Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) predicts that we waste about 1.3 billion tons of food globally every year.
The main cause is bad post-harvest agriculture infrastructure which includes warehousing, cold storage and food processing.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a ₹1 lakh crore Agriculture Infrastructure Fund meant for setting up storage and processing facilities in India.
This is a big opportunity for Indian agri-entrepreneurs.
That’s $13.3B USD!
“These assets will enable farmers to get greater value for their produce as they will be able to store and sell at higher prices, reduce wastage, and increase processing and value addition.” – Economic Times
