Why Netflix doesn’t show IMDB rating?

Because through all the customer interviews and surveys, Netflix learnt that “movie ratings is not the same as movie enjoyment” – Gibson Biddle, Netflix’s ex VP of Product Management.

I remember watching Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma on Netflix (IMDB 7.7). No doubt, its an authentic story captured beautifully. But honestly, I didn’t enjoy watching it.

Netflix found this contradiction come up a lot in their conversations with customers and made the decision on showing a matching percentage instead.
