Quibi – the long-hyped streaming service with bite-sized mobile-centric content is live.
How has pandemic affected the new underdog in the streaming wars?
1. The service was envisioned for on-the-go entertainment such as commuting or lunch.
But now that people are locked at home, viewers might prefer long-form content on TV.
2. Quibi CEO Meg Whitman said that Quibi will be “the first service that launches without any [licensed] content…no library.”
But now that production houses have shut down, they can’t produce originals and have nothing to fall back on.
It’ll be interesting to see how Quibi adapts.
